Doubt

Bananito starts unraveling. It happens slowly — a lingering glance at Cherrita during dinner, a moment where Chocolatina reaches for his hand and he hesitates half a beat too long. In the confessional booth, he finally says what he’s been holding in: "I don’t know if Chocolatina wants me, or if she wants to win. And I’m starting to wonder if there’s a difference." The words hit different because Bananito has been coasting on charm all season — this is the first time he’s been vulnerable, and it’s devastating. He tries to bring it up with Chocolatina that night, asking her: "Do you actually like me, or do you like that I’m useful?" Her response is measured, controlled, and technically perfect — which only makes it worse. "Of course I like you. Why would I be here?" But she never says how. She never says why. Bananito lies awake staring at the ceiling. The audience realizes something: he’s not the villain. He’s just lost.
